Born July 28, 1921, in Palmerton, Pa., Beatrice Violet Harper entered into rest Nov. 3, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif.

Burial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ware Chapel Cemetery, Dublin Road in Scranton, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Bea was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Newell Harper of Booneville; her parents, Augusta and Allen Henry; and her daughter, Geraldine Lafaw and granddaughter, Karen Hendrick, both of Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Whittaker of Virginia; sons, Robert and Ronald Green of California; stepdaughters, Betty Shelton of Arkansas and Shirley Richardson of Texas; five grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

During World War II, Bea was one of the California "Rosie the Riveter" girls, working on aircraft to support the war effort. She retired from Today's Kids in Booneville.

Bea loved to garden, can produce and cook many meals for church socials. She won numerous county fair blue ribbons for her outstanding canned goods and beautifully crafted crocheted afghans.

Her spunky personality and joy for life will be missed by her family and friends.
