Robert W. Stout, of Poolesville, died Thursday morning at his home, following an illness of three weeks. He was aged 76 years. He had taught school for 47 years and head been retired since 1929. For about 25 years he had taught in Poolesville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Claudia Offutt Stout, and the following children; Minter J. Stout, New Haven, Conn.; Robert W. Stout, Jr., at home, and Mrs. Ellen Stout [Boland], of Gaithersburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday with mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barnesville, at ten o'clock. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. William B. Hilton, Barnesville, funeral director.

Funeral Notice

Funeral services were here Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barnesville, for Robert William Stout, who died on Wednesday at his home after a short illness in Poolesville.

He was born June 18, 1862, a native of Loudoun County, Va., and a son of the late John and Margaret Stout.

Mr. Stout came to Montgomery County in 1889, where he took a most active part in the educational progress of the county. He started his teaching career at Bailey School, near Rockville.

In 1904, Mr. Stout was appointed to Poolesville where he taught in a building near the Y.M.C.A. that after the present high school was built was know as Hilton and Halls Undertaking Parlor.

In 1906, he promoted the plan of four rooms being built on the site where the Poolesville high school now stands and was a pioneer of the school bus system in the State of Maryland.

Mr. Stout retired from teaching in 1929 and operated a fruit orchard until a few years ago, when his health failed.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Claudia Offutt Stout, and three children; Mrs. William Boland of Gaithersburg; Minter Joseph Stout of New Haven, Conn.; and Robert W. Stout, Jr. of Poolesville; three grandchildren and one brother, Nathan Stout of Adamstown.
