Agnes Brown was the first daughter of Gabriel Scot Brown and Margaret Mitchell. She was born at a farm called Smallrigg, in Lochmaben, Scotland in 1815. Agnes married Thomas Thompson in 1833, and they emigrated to the US on the ship Oglethorpe in 1841 with sons John age 7, Gabriel B. age 5, James age 3, and Samuel who was 1. Agnes and Thomas had 11 known children.
