J. Arthur Gilbert of Clyde Park Dies

James Arthur Gilbert, 66, pioneer resident of the Clyde Park community, died Saturday at his home in Clyde Park after an illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Franen chapel by Rev. Floyd Stephens of the Shields Valley Methodist church. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery.

Music was provided by the Misses Ethel and Violet Speak. Pallbearers were A. J. Gilbert, Herbert Gilbert, John Gilbert, Lester Gilbert, Donnell Jones, and Gordon Smith.

Born July 4, 1883, at Yonkers, N.Y., he came to Clyde Park in 1914, locating a homestead 15 miles east of Clyde Park. He worked for the forest service for a number of years, and retired in 1936, due to ill health. He had made his home in Clyde Park for the past 14 years.

He was married March 5, 1903, at Scrub Oak, N.Y., to Adelaide Wilkins. He leaves his widow; a son, James Albert and his wife, Evelyn, and two granddaughters, Nancy and Kathleen Gilbert of Billings. There are a number of cousins in the Clyde Park community, in Livingston, and in New York.
