Obituary;

Richard Harm Ashworth, 81, St. Clair, died at St. Clair Tuesday, April 2, 2002.

He was born at Depew, Oklahoma, December 28, 1920, son of James Ashworth and wife Rosa, nee Pax.

On December 8, 1941, he was united in marriage to Opal B. Browning and the couple had six children.

Mr. Ashworth was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, St. Clair.

He was employed by the Missouri Highway Department.

Mr. Ashworth was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy, entering February 21, 1945, and receiving his honorable discharge December 8, 1945.

He was a past member of the St. Clair American Legion Post 347 and a past member of Easter Lodge 575 AF and AM.

Mr. Ashworth was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosa Ashworth; and one half brother, Olen Ashworth [James O. Ashworth].

He is survived by his wife, Opal Ashworth, St. Clair; three sons, William Ashworth,Merrillville, Indiana, Ronald Ashworth and wife Judy, Union, and John Ashworth, St.Clair; three daughters, Imogene "Dinky" Olejnik, Merrillville, Indiana, Flora Dillman,Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Dorothy "Dottie" Schepp, St. Clair; one half brother, Ted Ashworth and wife Mary, Catawissa; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, St. Clair, with Reverend Dr. Phil Turner and Reverend Milo Haynes officiating.

Interment was in United Methodist Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorials to Alzheimer's Association are preferred.

The Ashworth family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
