A. Irene Ankrom, 98, of Decatur, formerly of Argenta, died on Friday, April 23, 2004 in the Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Irene was born on August 1, 1905 in Lake City, IL. to William Thomas and Hanama Mary (Hopkins) Griswold. She married Ralph E. Ankrom in 1939 in Rockville IN.

Irene is survived by two sons L. Skip Ankrom and wife Carla of Adamsville, TN, Charles William Ankrom of LaPlace, and two grandchildren Kipp Ankrom, and Sandra Balvanz. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter Karen Sue, 2 sons at birth, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
