Obituary MYRTLE V. YOUNG
Myrtle was born October 30, 1902 at Pelham, Navarro County, Texas. A seamstress, she was active with the TB Association, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Church Women United (Past). Charter Member of the Court of Calanthe # 393 and served as Recorder of Accounts 33 years. Secretary of Christian Leadership School until it was closed, sponsored by the Women Society of Christian Service Northwest Texas Conference. Served on Conference and District level the West Texas Conference until merger to Northwest Texas Conference 1969. Elected to Board of Evangelism, Age. Level Group, Lay Woman of Council on Ministries, District Chairperson of Religion and Race, member of sears Memorial Center Auxiliary, Chairman of Publicity of the School of Christian Missions, Woman's Society of Christian Service. A member of First United Methodist Church, she served as financial secretary, President of Methodist Women, plus many other offices. She married Charlie H. Young in 1937. He survives her. Other survivors are: 1 daughter, Erma V. Mitchell of Los Angeles; 1 grandson, William M. Jones of West Covina, Ca; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 5 sisters: Mrs. Eulila Davis of Oklahoma City Mrs. Dorothy Pitts of Oklahoma City Mrs. Ila B. Biser of Oklahoma City Mrs. Mattie Bailey of Jones, Oklahoma Miss Marie Rainger also of Jones; 1 Uncle - Bitmon Henry of Pelham, Texas; She was preceded in death by a daughter, Allye Mae Steele.
Myrtle V. Moody-Young was the oldest of nine daugthers of Allen Rainger AKA John Moody.
