Merilyn would warm up Forrey's car every morning before he left for work, as well as getting him breakfast & on his way. She went to work at Kingsburg High School after the kids started school. She liked to needle point. She also liked to cook, and made 1000's of Swedish spritz cookies each year for the Swedish Festival. She would mix the dough at the Kingsburg High School cafeteria and bake them at home. She also made a certain potscrubbe which she gave to many people. She made Halloween costumes for kids and grand kids and was a great seamstress. She would send nice care packages for her kids and grand kids.

Merilyn joined the Kingsburg Methodist Church on May 19, 1935, now known as the Kingsburg Community Church. She graduated from KHS in 1939 and then attended 4c's college. She and Forrey eloped to Nevada February 7, 1942. Forrey went into the Army shortly thereafter.

Merilyn passed away at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma. She was a registrar at the Kingsburg High School for 25 years. Funeral services will be Feb 8, 2008 graveside in Kingsburg along with services at the Kingsburg Community Church.

CARLSTROM, MERILYN -- Graveside services for Merilyn Carlstrom, 86, of Kingsburg will be at 10 A.M. Friday at Kingsburg Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 A.M. Friday at Kingsburg Community Church. Mrs. Carlstrom, a retired registrar for Kingsburg High School, died Sunday. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 P.M. Thursday at Creighton Memorial Chapel. Remembrances may be sent to Kingsburg Community Church, 1590 Smith St., Kingsburg, CA 93631; or Bethel Lutheran Home, 2280 Dockery Ave., Selma, CA 93662.
