Born in Stettin, Vorpommern, Prussia, which post WWII became Szczecin, Poland. Anna Wilhelmina immigrated to America with her family aboard the California arriving on April 24th 1884 at the age of 7 and enjoyed telling of the "mermaids" who called along the way as they entered the harbor. We can only imagine that she must have meant dolphins.
