Danny Joe Jones, 47, of 1101 Woodland, Knoxville, formerly of Rockwell, died Saturday, October 13, 2001 in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday October 18, 2001 at the Swaledale United Methodist Church, Swaledale, IA. Officiating will be the Rev. Bruce Wittern. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale with flag folding and taps. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday October 17, 2001 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. Rockwell, IA.

Danny was born January 3, 1954, in Mason City, the son of Robert Lewis and Lorraine Marie (Luick) Jones. On February 1, 1972 Danny went on to serve his county in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he attained the rank of LCpl. He received the following medals and commendations, Rifle Expert Badge and the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Electronics SurvillanceCrs-Ca-72. On January 31, 1974 he was honorably discharged.

Danny came back to the Mason City area were he attended North Iowa Community College. For the past 10 years he has lived in Knoxville, IA were he was very involved in the VA Center. Danny loved working with his hands. He enjoyed wood and leather working. Danny was very talented both as a musician and writer. He was able to play several different musical instruments and able to compose his own music to play. He had been honored with the Awards of Excellence in music and self-expression. He had a way with words and expressing his thoughts on paper which lead him to write stories and even had some of them published. He loved being a shade tree mechanic on his own car.

Danny is survived by his father, Robert Jones and special friend Mary Holm of Mason City, IA; Paternal Grandparents, Lee and Alfina Jones of Mason City, IA; 3 sisters, Barbara Noonan and her husband Tom of Denver, Co. and their children, Brian and Kevin, Peggy Lettow and her husband Kurt of West Des Moines, IA and their children Jordan, Lindsay and Jared, Jeannette Bram and her husband Brad of Mason City, IA and their children Lacey, Kady and Rosalie; 3 brothers, Thomas Jones and his wife Sue of Mason City, IA, and their children, Audra, Mike, Robert and Thomas, Terry Jones of Mason City, IA, John Jones and his wife Lorraine of Rockwell, IA and their children Ben, Jessica and Rachael, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Danny is preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Jones, Maternal Grandparents, Donald and Charlotte Luick, and 1 brother in infancy, Mickey Jones.
