Show Low, Arizona ~ December 5, 2008

Robert C. Perkins, 63, of Snowflake died Nov. 29, 2008, in Show Low surrounded by his family. He was born to Marion F. Perkins and Rilla DeSpain Perkins Sept. 4, 1945, in Santa Rita, N.M.

He had four brothers, Carvel, Marion, Richard and Anthony, and three sisters, Darla, Terri and Anita.

Robert lived in New Mexico, California and moved to Snowflake in 1950, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Snowflake Union High School in May 1963.

He entered the Air Force Jan. 16, 1966, and served in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of sergeant. He was discharged from the Air Force May 2, 1969.

Robert was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding callings which he enjoyed. He was a Cub Scout leader and loved his troop. He enjoyed going on road trips. He had a great love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.

He thought nothing of taking a spur-of-the-moment trip to Flagstaff to enjoy a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken or driving to Phoenix to watch a movie.

He had no children of his own, but his nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews were his kids, and he spoiled them shamelessly.

Robert is survived by his brother Carvel; sisters Darla (Joe) Huffman of Lake Charles, La., Terri (Vic) Ramsey of Snowflake, Anita Ramirez of Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy, of Dorena, Ore., and Lucille of Twin Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Marion, Richard and Anthony.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 5, at the Snowflake Stake Center with a viewing at 1 p.m. and funeral at 2 p.m. He will be buried at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.

Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor is handling the arrangements.
