Football Player and Announcer. Played for the University of Michigan, and won the Heisman Trophy in 1940. Father of actors Kelly, Kristin, and Mark Harmon. He was called "Old 98" by his teamates. He enlisted as an Army Air Corp pilot in WWII where he received the Purple Heart medal and a Silver Star for actions in China with the 449th Fighter Squadron.
