"Fairfield Ledger", Jan. 31, 1867, Pg. 3, Col. 1

....died in Des Moines "on the 24th inst.... was never married and was about 40 years of age.... His remains were brought here on Tuesday last for interment, and yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock he was buried."

William K. ALEXANDER, whose wife Elizabeth was a sister of John FORE, was named Admr. of the Estate of John FORE... Mrs. F. F. METZLER was another sister, as was Margaret FORE. Margaret married, on 15 Jan., 1871, as his third wife, James David EDWARDS, a Civil War veteran, and they removed to Stromsburg, Nebr., where Margaret died Jan. 10, 1892.

Note: A number of years ago a stub of a base was reportedly found and believed to be for John Fore. The stub/base is no longer present on this plot. The photo shown is of the approximate Lot 170 where John Fore may be buried in what is now essentially an unmarked grave. The two headstones present are for the Black family on Lot 170.
