John McCann Bybee enlisted as a private in Company B. He was on detached service 10 Nov 1846 and was a member of Lieutenant Willis' Pueblo detachment. As such he would have entered the Salt Lake Valley 29 July 1847. John McCann Bybee's son Byron, married a daughter of USMB David Garner. His sister Lucene, married a brother of USMB Henry Byran Beckstead. His brother Robert, married a daughter of USMB Alonzo Peris Raymond. John married twice, 17 Oct 1849 to Mary Polly Smith and had eight children, then 30 Oct 1856 to Caroline Erickson and had three children. He died 21 Feb 1909 in Uintah, Weber County, Utah at the age of 80 years.
