Mrs. Ruth Harmon Allen, age 94 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield.
Born Wednesday, June 14, 1916 in Joyce, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late James Russell and Ella Gibson Russell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Max Allen, brothers, Lawrence Russell, Don Russell and Jim Russell, and sisters, Helen Corley and Faye Dark.
Mrs. Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, where she was also a member of United Methodist Women. She was a long-time member of the Winnfield Pilot Club and a member of Lazy Daisy Homemakers. Mrs. Allen was the receptionist at the American Creosote Plant for many years.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Winnfield with Rev. Jayne Trammell-Kelly. Interment will follow in Garden Of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield, LA.
Matt Walton, Sydney Walton, Todd Teal, Tommy Harrel, Kiah Beville, and Randy Brewton will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.
