Graduated the United States Military Academy in 1826. Promoted Bvt. Second Lieut., 1st Artillery, July 1,1826.— Second Lieut., 3d Artillery, July 1, 1826.—Reg'l Adjutant, 1832.—First Lieut., Dec. 1,1835.— Resigned, Aug. 13,1836.—Civil Engineer and Architect, Charleston, S. C., since 1837.— Lt. Col. of Artillery, S. C. White was also a renown architect who designed numerous buildings in Charleston.

Edward also had another son, Julius Bache White who died at Tallulah Fall, Georgia on May 11, 1888.
