Gladys Marie (Abbey) Weast, 75, died at 8 PM Wednesday [May 4, 1988] in Lafayette Home Hospital, where she had been a patient since April 22, following three weeks of ill-health. Born in Tippecanoe County, Feb. 9, 1913, she attended Jefferson HIgh School, and spent all of her life in this area. Her marriage was May 1, 1931, in Lafayette, to John L. "Jack" Weast, who died in 1962.
Mrs. Weast was a nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center for 16 years, retiring in 1978. Surviving are two sons, Donald L. Weast and Edward J. Weast, both of Lafayette; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
