Her first husband was James A Taylor with whom she had one son, Sanford W.
Taylor. After James died she married her neighbor, John Shack, Mr Shack died in
a flood trying to save his livestock. Martha had a daughter, Ellen A. Shack,
with John Shack. Martha's brother, Bill Duke, helped her and her two children
move back to Conecuh County, Alabama from Leake County, Mississippi. She was
the daughter of John M. Duke and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown).
