Don A. Campbell, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 11, 1942 in Ashland, WI, the son of Alexander and Ardis (Haanstad) Campbell. He married Sally Joseph on June 30, 1973 in Wausau, WI. Mr. Campbell was a longtime resident of the Sun Prairie area. He retired from GTE in 1995 after 31 years of employment. He served his country for the past 30 years, first with the U.S. Air Force for four years and the past 26 years with the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Sun Prairie Volunteer Fire Department for more than 25 years and a past member of the Sun Prairie Exchange Club. He was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie, having served on the property board, and was a member of the Prairie Riders Snowmobile Club, Sun Prairie, where he held various offices. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Sally of Sun Prairie; his children, Christopher Campbell of Sun Prairie, Craig (Kelli) Campbell of Green Bay, Colin Campbell of Marshall, and Carolyn Campbell of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Alexander, Ian, Coya and Noah; his mother, Ardis (Ellwood) Thomas of Rice Lake, WI; his sister, Cathie Sharkey of Cottage Grove, MN; his stepsister, Jill Thomas of New Richmond, WI; his step-brother, Jack (Diane) Thomas of River Falls, WI; his former wife, Marliese (Robert) Schwinn of Wausau; and other relatives and friends mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his father; and an infant son, Cory. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Dr., Sun Prairie, with the Rev. Dr. David J. Bergeron and the Rev. Dean Kirst officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Volk Field Honor Guard at Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Sun Prairie. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 2, 2001, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service athe church.
