She married BENJAMIN M.SMITH, 22 Oct 1856. When Benjamin died in 1864, at Andersonville War Prison in Georgia, she took her 5 young children to live in Michigan. There, she remarried Johnson F. Howard and had 2 more children, Walter, and Charles. J.F. Howard died in 1884, and in 1894, she married again to Alfred Guion Meade, a widower with grown children. He died in 1912, Newaygo co., and she went to live with her son, John Garfield Smith. She died in Kokomo, Indiana in 1922, but is buried at Belvidere, Illinois where her son had lived earlier and had a cemetery plot.
