British Royalty. The daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, she was born Helena Augusta Victoria, but was called "Lenchen" by her family. While visiting Coburg in 1865, she was introduced to Prince Christian. The couple became engaged the same year. Victoria approved the marriage on the condition the couple make their home in England. They were married on July 5, 1866, at the private chapel in Windsor Castle. They made their home at Frogmore House and later at Cumberland Lodge, and had five children: Christian, Albert, Helena, Louise, and Harald. In 1917, when the royal family dropped all Germanic titles, Helena and Christian dropped the "of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg" and simply became HRH Prince Christian and Princess Helena. Christian died in 1917. Helena died at Schomberg House, her London residence, at the age of 77.
