Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company F, 14th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi on October 3, 1862. His citation reads “Although wounded three times, carried the colors throughout the conflict”. His Medal was issued on January 22, 1892.
