Vincent Woodroe[sic] Stone, 94, of Stafford County died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Stone retired in 1971 from the Naval Weapons Laboratory, now the Naval Surface Warfare Center, after 30 years of service. During his career at Dahlgren, he conducted numerous land-based and shipboard gun firing tests.

He was an avid antiques collector and furniture craftsman. He was known for his sense of humor and his love for his family. His favorite time was gathering around the table on Christmas Eve reminiscing of days gone by.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Cox Stone; his parents, Charles Cleveland Stone and Lydia Jett Stone; and four brothers, Nolan Jett, Willis Jett, Robert Jett and Randolph Stone.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna S. Broyles, and her husband, Wayne, of Stafford; two grandchildren, Keri DeBernard and her husband, C.J., of Stafford and Kiley Miller and her husband, Adam, of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Megan DeBernard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Stone's nephews will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Medi Home Health and Hospice, 3302 Bourbon St., No. 2, Fredericksburg, Va. 22408-7311.
