She was born in Atlanta on February 2, 1950 and grew up in College Park. She graduated from Lake Shore High School and attended the University of Georgia. Marcia was an incredibly talented decorator who designed the interiors of many model homes and owned and managed the retail shop Trappings in Peachtree Hills for years. Her designs have been featured in magazines such as Southern Living.
Marcia was also very fond of gardening, and per her intentions, her remains are to be cremated so as to share the same garden at Atlanta's Arlington Memorial that Marcia designed for her deceased daughter, Laura Grier McKinney. Marcia was also preceded in death by her father Scott Hudgens and her brother Mark Hudgens. Marcia will be remembered for her unparalleled generosity. She regularly donated to the Special Olympics and the Shepard Spinal Center and to individuals too countless to name.
Her favorite saying, which she inherited from her father was: "You can or you can't, you will or you won't, you do or don't." Marcia did much to beautify the world and to help those in need.
She is survived by her husband Michael, her son Casey McKinney, grandson Rowan McKinney, mother Jacqueline Hudgens, brothers Michael and Dallas Hudgens, nephews Cole, Dallas and Sam Hudgens, and many friends and other family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25th at 11 am at Patterson's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Marcia's memory should consider Peachtree Christian Hospice at 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096 or the Shepherd Center Foundation, 2020 Peachtree Road NW Atlanta, Georgia 30309.
