Artis Marvin Bryant, 88, Morristown, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1935, in Russell Springs, KY, to Arthur and Lola (Smith) Bryant. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Jo (Glick) Bryant. "Big Art", as many knew him, worked in installations at Indiana Bell, turned Western Electric for many years, before retiring in 1990.
Art and Mary Jo raised a large family of 5 children. Although the home was always bustling, it was filled with much love, laughter, and toys. Art prided himself on working hard at the phone company and providing for his family, but there was always time for family, the children's friends, the outdoor toys of dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, golf carts, and farming on the side. With land farming also came the barnyard animals. After the children were grown and moved onward, came the grandchildren, which Art adored. Art also adopted and enjoyed togetherness on holidays, non-holidays, weekends, and whenever most of the family was available. Art was a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.
Art is survived by his loving children: "little" Art Bryant, Becky Ricker, Anne Bryant, David Bryant, and Michelle (Todd) Grant; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Bernice Cooper, Jerry Bryant, Jimmie Bryant, and Linda Timmerman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Mary Jo (Glick) Bryant; brothers, Donnie Bryant and Mike Bryant; and a great-granddaughter.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, is handling arrangements for the Bryant family. At this time there will be no visitation nor service, but the family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life gathering, to be held at the end of January. You may reach out to them for additional details. If you would like to sign the online guest book or send condolences to the family, you may do so by visiting www.stillingerfamily.com
