Mrs. Carrie Alena Luce , 68, a resident of the Douglass community all her life, died at Rose Hill, June 1, 1949.
Carrie Alena Plastridge, daughter of Charley and Mary Plastridge, was born Nov. 30, 1880 at Douglass, and died June 1, 1949, at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 2 days.
On her 16th birthday at Douglass she was married to Jesse E. Metsker. To this union three children, all of whom survive, were born. They are Roy Metsker of Englewood, Colo., Ruth McGinnis of Mulvane; and Ruby Brogdin of Drumright, Okla. The family made its home on a farm east of Douglass, where Mr. Metsker died Sept. 8, 1912.
In 1921 Carrie Metsker was married to Marvin A. Luce, who preceded her in death, March 10, 1927.
While quite young Mrs. Luce joined the Methodist Church and was a faithful worker as long as her health permitted. She was a good wife and mother and a friend to all who know her.
Besides her three children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren she is survived by a brother, Arthur Plastridge of Whitewater; and a sister Mrs. Mamie Luce of Whitewater.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 from the Methodist Church with Rev. Everett Mitchell conducting. Burial was in the Douglass Church in charge of Hilyard Funeral Home.
