Elias' "nickname" was "Gaitors ", which Stewart Couch, his grandson referred to him reportedly "dancing out of his shoes" known as gaitors.
Elias married Polly Combs on 9-13-1859 in Perry Co. Polly is believed to have been the daughter of James Combs and Elizabeth Henry by some researchers. If this is true, Polly was the granddaughter of Henry Harrison Combs and Rachel Clements. They were the parents of Sally Ann, Baylis, Levi, Noah, Nancy Ann, Loucinda, Margarette, John D. and Robin/Robert Couch.
After the death of Polly, Elias had three more marriages to Martha Taylor Banks, Chriiste Harvey McDaniels and Nancy Ann Hamblin Eversole

Gravesite Details
Elias and Polly Couch are buried under the driveway outside the gate of the cemetery. The stones were later placed in the cemetery by a kind lady.
