Note the following from The Saga of Madison Brown: A Choice of Color, Julius Faucette (2005) at 73: "According to family folklore, Ellen was an indentured servant at her grandfather Thomas Boswell's farmhouse before she married Madison [Brown]. As the story was told, Ellen was born out of wedlock. Her father's name was Bedford Boswell and her mother's name was also Ellen Boswell. Ellen's mother was the daughter of Pueblo Boswell who lived on the edge of the Guilford and Caswell County lines. Ellen's father Bedford was the son of Thomas Boswell II; her grandfather's nephew."
