Adeline Mae Young, 101, passed away at 7:45am Sunday, Apr 11, 2010, at her residence in Murphysboro.

Services will be at 11am Thurs, Apr 15, 2010, in irst Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Timothy A. Bean officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.

Adeline was born July 21, 1908, in Murphysboro to Thomas and Laura (Graff) Moore. She was a farm wife and homemaker.

Adeline enjoyed raising strawberries and had U-Pick Strawberries. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and tending to her yard and flowers, and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Young was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, where she had been a member of Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Jackson County Home Extension and a former 4-H leader.

She married Anthony O. "Tony" Young on July 10, 1933, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1998.

Adeline is survived by one daughter, Christina Edwards of Murphysboro; three grandsons, John F. "Jay" Edwards III and his wife, Kimberly Edwards, of River Forest, and Michael Anthony Edwards and his wife, Polly Edwards, and Mark Allen Edwards, all of Dupo; and seven great-grandchildren, John Francis "Jack" Edwards IV, Maxim Edwards and Haley Edwards, all of River Forest, and Rachael Edwards, Lydia Edwards, Breigh Ann Edwards and Nathanael Edwards, all of Dupo.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, John Edwards; three brothers, Samuel, Robert and Ralph Moore; one sister, Agnes VanCloostere; and her parents. Published in The Southern Illinoisan on April 1, 3201
