Marie Willowdean Lawrence, age 86, passed away in Bluefield, West Virginia on October 23, 2010. She was born on March 15, 1924, the second child of Walker and Lou (Warren) Clark.

Marie taught grades 1-8 in Landis, Arkansas for her first teaching job and taught 4th grade for more than 40 years at Fabrique and Beech Elementary Schools in Wichita, Kansas. She was also assistant principal for several years in Wichita, Kansas. She was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church in Andover, Kansas where she loved to make quilts for families in need and nursing home residents. Marie will be greatly missed, loved and remembered by friends and loved ones for fighting the good fight while keeping faith during her lifetime.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Afton Lawrence; one granddaughter, Kristyna Marie Lawrence; four brothers, Jimmy Clark, Warren Clark, J.D. Clark and Fount Clark.

Survivors include her son Donnie Lawrence and wife Ronda; two grandsons, Andrew Afton Lawrence and wife Amanda Goins Lawrence and Nathaniel Jo Walker Lawrence; one brother, Doug Clark; two sisters, Lillian Wallis and Bonnie McDaniel.

Services for Marie Willowdean Lawrence will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 29th, 2010 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Thursday, October 28th, 2010. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.
