Henry Barber was the son of Prudence and William Barber. Henry had 9 siblings: Avis, Esther, Silas, Joseph, Amos, Hosea, John, Perry, and Catherine.

He was a Revolutionary War soldier before moving with his family to Brookfield, NY.

He married Lucretia Wilcox Frink in North Stonington, New London Co., CT in 1782 and they had the following children:
