Raymond Cox
Raymond Clifford Cox,son of D. L. & Dora (Cook) Cox,was born February 13,1893 at Newburg,Jasper County,Iowa & died at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan Thursday July 20,1961.He was 68 years,5 months & 3 days of age.
On October 12,1913 he was united in marriage to Anna V. Woy at Green City.He was preceded in death by his parents,3 half brothers, William H., Eldy & Emery M. Cox,3 half sisters,Mrs. Lizzy Warren,Mrs. Pearl Byerley & Mrs. Mable Trapp.
Raymond had made his home on a farm in Iowa and was employed in Kansas City by the Rev. L. H. Maple.Five children were born to their marriage.
Surviving are the wife of the home in Green City;4 sons, Marvin D.,Green City;Carroll W.,Phoenix,Arizona;Raymond, Jr.,Farmersville,Texas; & Kenneth D.,Kansas City; 1 daughter,Mrs. R. L. (Woneta Fern) McCann,Coffeyville, Kansas;17 grandchildren,3 great grandchildren;1 sister, Mrs.Nellie Beall, Green City,and several nieces & nephews. He returned to a farm in the Prairie Chapel community where he engaged in farming and worked as a painter until his health failed and he retired to his present home in Green City.He was a member of the First Baptist church of Green City.
Funeral services were held at the Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Chapel,Sunday June 23,conducted by Rev. Basil Sinclair & Rev. Oscar Rush.Burial was in the Hawkeye Cemetery.
