Born in the Town of Eaton on Dec. 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Bernett Edward and Margaret Darcy Moran. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Cox was a graduate of Madison High School. She married J. James Cox in Oneida on July 21, 1944. Mr. Cox died on Dec. 13, 1973.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Cox was briefly employed with the City of Oneida. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a former member of the church's Altar-Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Our Lady 1250.
Surviving are her twin daughters and their husbands, Colleen and Lou Rossi of Latham and Margaret and Andy Arden of Oneida; one son and his wife, Kevin M. and Maureen Cox of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Kristi Cox, David and his wife Brenda Cox, Zoe and Jim Morrissey, Matthew Rossi and Paul Cox; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Cox on April 8, 2009.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 1:30 p.m. from St. Patrick's Church, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. There are no public hours of visitation.
