Mabel A. Zielanis, 94, of 524 River Terrace, Kiel, died Friday morning, March 15, 1991, at Calumet Homestead, in New Holstein, where she had been a resident for the past 71/2 years.
The former Mabel Ziemer, born October 7, 1896, in Algoma, Wis., daughter of the late Herman and Henrietta Sperling Ziemer. Her first two years of schooling were in the Algoma Schools. After her parents moved to Medford, she attended Medford Elementary and high school as well as the Taylor County Normal School. She also attended U.W.-Stevens Point, then called The State Normal School.
On May 28, 1941, she married Stanley Zielanis at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Medford where she was very active in Sunday school work and the church choir. She sang soprano solo's at weddings and funerals and was a good vocalist who was able to impart good singing to the young people in her care. She taught for a period of 34 years in the Taylor County Schools,both rural and elementary grades in the Villages of Westboro, Hannibal,Stetsonville and Rib Lake.
Survivors are her husband, Stanley; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lucille (Robert) Zimmerman, of Owen, Wis.; two grandchildren, David ( Mary) Zimmerman and Cheryl (Rory) Remmel; two nephews, Gary (Cel) Ziemer, of New Providence, N. J., James (Carol) Ziemer of Marinette, Wis.
She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one niece.
