Mathilda R. Lehrke, 83, formerly of Kiel, died Friday evening, May 12, 1989, at the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she had been a resident for the past 9 years.
The former Mathilda Wagner was born Nov. 12, 1905, in Jericho, a daughter of the late Henry and Helena (Junk) Wagner. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Jericho. On June 5, 1928, she married Ernest Lehrke in Jericho. He died April 16, 1969. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel.
Survivors include one son, Norman (Ellen), rural Glenbeulah; four daughters, Pearl (Jerome) Kienbaum, Kiel; Ruth (Fritz) Holschbach, Sheboygan Falls; Carol (Norman) Gierke, Rural Kiel; Gladys (Herold) Nenning, Newton; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; and one half sisters, Celia Boehnlein.
She was preceded in death by one half sister and one grandchild.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Burial was in Kiel Cemetery.
