1958 OBITUARY
C.H. Vowels Rites Conducted Wednesday
C.H. Vowels, 78, a long resident of the Wyatt Community, died Monday, 6:30 a.m. at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He has been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Vowels was a retired farmer and was well known both in this city and county. He was born near Wyatt October 20, 1879. He was a member of the Wyatt Methodist Church and services were held at the church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the pastor, the Rev. Robert Burke and the Rev. A.B. Cooper, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the family lot at the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Nunnelee Service.
Mr. Vowels' wife preceded him in death April 18, 1957. He leaves two sons, John of Wyatt and Clifford of Route 3; four daughters, Mrs. Tandy Murphy of Wyatt, Mrs. Marvin Walker of this city, Mrs. Albert Brumley of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Wayne Lockaby of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Bartlett and Miss Florence Vowels, both of Sikeston; twenty-four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
