A daughter of Curtis and Effie (Wheeler) Buffum, she was born in Cuba on March 3, 1905. She was married there April 10, 1937, to Ralph E. Waughtel, who survives.
Also surviving are her father, who resides in Cuba; four brothers John A. Buffum, also of Cuba, Ernest C. Buffum of Wichita, Kan., and Rollo D. and Carroll D. Buffum, both of Canton, and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Huffman of Prairie City, Mrs. Ruby M. Deakin of Fiatt, and Mrs. Marjorie D. Jones of Hanna City.
Her mother and two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Waughtel was a charter member and past president of the Woman's Auxiliary of VFW post 5001 and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Funeral Notices
Final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Coleman Funeral Home for Mrs. Edith Marie Waughtel of 614 W. Ave. G, who died Thursday. Rev. A.D. Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian Church will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday.

** Marie operated a popcorn stand on the square in Lewistown. She had no children of her own. She was known for her rag rugs, crocheting, baking and sense of humor.
