Evedean Moffett was born on July 9, 1929, in Houston County, the fourth of seven children to Robert and Annie Mae Walker Vaughn of the Belott Community. Mrs. Moffett's family immigrated to Texas from Tennessee by way of Missouri in 1828, as part of the Austin colony but settled in Houston County before it was part of Texas. Her great-grandfather was Matthew Britton Vaughn, who was a Sgt. in Company D 28th Texas Cavalry C.S.A. Mrs. Moffett graduated from Glover High School in 1948, and moved to Houston. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. where she met her husband Lee Edward Moffett. Three children were born to this union: Katherine Ann, Robert Leonard, and Pamela Lea Moffett. Mrs. Moffett and her husband Edward moved to Barker where they reared their family and were members of the First Presbyterian
church of Barker. After her husband's retirement, they moved back to Houston County to the Porter Springs Community.
