BODY IDENTIFIED AS THAT OF MINER
The body of a man found near the Twin Sisters Mine has been identified as a Grass Valley miner.
Richard Lee Mickelson, 38, apparently died of accidental causes, said Nevada County Undersheriff Paul Rankin. Mickelson's body was found 500 feet west of Twin Sisters Mine near the 30700 block of Hagerty Ranch Road. Mickelson was identified by a friend.
A coroner's report indicated Mickelson died Friday. Rankin said an autopsy is under way to determine the cause of death. He added hypothermia is one possibility.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 5, 1991 for Richard Lee Mickelson, 38. He died Friday March 29, 1991 in Nevada County.
Mr. Mickelson was born February 26, 1953 in Iowa to Swede and Joy Mickelson. He was a self-employed miner who enjoyed the outdoors and mining. He married Patty Rodgers.
Mr. Mickelson is survived by his wife Patty of Nevada City; son Travis of Nevada City; mother Joy Mickelson of Grass Valley, father Swede Mickelson of Sacramento; sisters Robyn Mickelson of Newport, Or., and Meagyn Mickelson of Seattle, WA and grandparents Melvin and Hazel Mickelson of Solon, Iowa.
The funeral service begins at 4 p.m. at the Hooper and Weaver Mortuary Chapel in Nevada City. Visitation will be until 9 this evening at the Nevada City Chapel of Hooper and Weaver. The Rev Andy Owens will officiate.
