Services for Carmi M. Conner, 79, of 712 Elm Street, Traer, will be Friday, August 19, at 10:30 a. m. at Overton Funeral Home in Traer, with Rev. Richard Nikolaisen officiating. Burial is in Buckingham

Cemetery. He died Tuesday night, August 16, 1983 at his home.


Carmi Conner was born January 17, 1904, at Traer, a son of Daniel and Belle (Parsons) Conner. He received his education in Traer, graduating from Traer High School in 1921. He continued his education at the Cedar Rapids Business College and the Marshalltown Barber College, then began barbering with his father in Traer, and later with a brother. He married Ruth Tanner March 10, 1939 at Waterloo, and they made their home in Fairfax until 1942, where he operated a barber shop and pool hall. In 1942 they moved to Waterloo, where he worked at Rath Packing Company until his retirement in 1965. In 1968 they moved to Traer.


Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Traer; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Candy) Fleming of Traer; one grandson; and a sister, Marjorie O'Malley of Mechanicsville.


Funeral organist is Mrs. Carl Wilson. Serving on the flower committee are Mary Hurd, Chris Fausch and Cherly Morrison.


Casket bearers are Tom Hurd, Craig Aswegan, Paul Fleming, Steven Fausch, Bill Morrison and Don Patten.
