Ruby Mooney, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2000, at the age of 97. A native of Houston, Texas, she raised her family in San Francisco and Pleasant Hill for the last 78 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floid Mooney, in 1976.
She leaves behind two daughters, Dorothy L. Wise of Pleasant Hill and Dolores J. Gaspard of Los Angeles, 4 grandchildren, Leigh Dowling of Escondido, CA, Kimberley Grover of Antioch, CA, Terri Carlson Chauss of Concord, and Scott Gaspard of Los Angeles; 6 great-grand-children, Jeffrey and Kristin Dowling. Tobi and Randee Grover; Shannon Carlson and Andrew Sheldon, and one great-great grandchild, Saylem Rubi Bettencourt named in her honor; one sister, Margaret Runge of Houston, TX, and 2 brothers, Roy Schultz of Cypress, TX and Walter Schultz of Houston, TX, all of whom will deeply miss her presence in their lives. She was active in Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed crafting and working in her beloved garden.
