As a member of the Wellington Fire District, George was only the department's second LODD.

George Foster served the Wellington Fire District for a total of 33 years. Foster rose through the ranks as a firefighter, eventually serving as the Assistant Chief of the department. While responding to a structure fire, Foster suffered a fatal heart attack.
