It was a shock to the community when word was spread abroad that Mrs. C. W. Cardiff had died at her home three miles south and west of Blanchard, Friday, July 9th. She had been in poor health for some time but had spent the 5th with Mrs. R. Hoffman who went with her to call on Mr. Riley, who was confined to his room. She was so happy and enjoyed her trip around to see old friends and seemed in her usual health to the last when she took her forenoon nap and passed away. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church. The body was taken to Hillsboro for shipment to Clinton, Illinois, where her husband is buried.
