The Bear Paw Mountaineer, Big Sandy, MT, 21 June 1917
Pioneer Lady Passes Away
Mrs. Clarissa R. Countryman, wife of F. E. Countryman of this place, died at the Deaconess hospital in Great Falls Monday morning. The body was forwarded to Big Sandy Monday night for burial.
Mrs. Countryman was born at St. Charles, Bear Lake county, Idaho, April 20, 1868. She was the daughter of E. G. and Mary Cherry. She was united in marriage to Frank E. Countryman in 1893, and since that time has been a resident of the state of Montana.
The immediate cause of death was a complication of gall stones and tumor, for the relief of which complaint she was operated upon at the Deaconess hospital, and while every effort was made to preserve her life, it was of no avail, and on Monday she was visited by the grim reaper and passed away.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, one son, and three sisters and six brothers. The daughter resides in Minnesota, the son in Montana, two sisters and three brothers in Idaho, and one brother in Canada.
The funeral will be held from the M. E. church at 2 o'clock today, conducted by Rev. R. W. Nelson.
Mrs. Countryman was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her legions of friends and acquaintances, all who join in expressing regret at the sudden taking away of their friend, and who at this time extend to the bereaved family their sympathy and hope it may serve to comfort them in their great loss.
