Henry Stonecipher Bayless was born the twelfth child of John Bayless and Sarah Stonecipher. The family lived in Elizabethtown, Tennessee until after all the children were born (15 children). As a young man Henry moved with his family to a farm in Melvern, Kansas. While farming in Tennessee their crop probably was tobacco. In Kansas they farmed grains. The farm in Melvern remained in the family until early in 2000.
Henry married Irene Lucinda Keys of Waverly/Emporia Kansas before 1909. After the birth of their two sons they moved to Long Beach, California. Henry was a farmer at heart as seen by the garden he tended in California. He was employed as a salesman of building supplies.
Henry died the night of Good Friday April, 1954 as the result of a stroke. His wife Irene took his body to Melvern by train for burial near Bayless family members.
