Coor, Cleo Barbara Cosper
86 of Goodyear, passed away Monday, December 29. She was born on June 20, 1922, in Springerville, AZ. Cleo Graduated from Arizona State Teacher's College (now NAU) with a BA in 1943. She later received her MA from NAU. She married Chauncey B. Coor in 1941. They moved to the west side of the Valley in 1947 where the continued to make their home. Cleo was an elementary school teacher until she retired in 1984 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Cleo was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Avondale where she played the organ and was the music director many years, until she retired a few years ago. Cleo is survived by four children: Caren B. Coor, Judith Coor-Ravella, Roger B. Coor, and Joslyn Coor Brown. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher Ravella, Jennifer Irish, Nicholas Brown, Holly Brown and five great-grandchildren, Zakary Ravella, Anthony Ravella, Sofia Irish, Aaron Irish, and Shane Irish. She has two surviving sisters: JoAnne Chastain and Rose Awtry. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Coor Scholarship fund at Agua Fria High School (530 E. Riley Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323) or the music department at the Christ Community United Methodist Church in Avondale (104 W. Western Ave., Avondale, AZ 85323). Services will be held on Sat., Jan. 3, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Christ Community United Methodist Church in Avondale (104 W. Western Ave., Avondale, AZ 85323). Care entrusted to Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel.
