L.E. McINTOSH
DIED SATURDAY

Funeral Held Here Sunday
Lewis Edward McIntosh, 76, died at the Brooks County Hospital early Saturday morning, June 16th. Mr. McIntosh had been in failing health for several years but his condition was not regarded as critical until shortly before his death. News of his passing came as a shock to his many friends here.

Mr. McIntosh was born in Quitman August 9, 1879, a son of Roderick Chilly McIntosh and Cora Barksdale Lewis McIntosh, a prominent important family here.

With his brother, R.C., Mr. McIntosh had engaged in the hardware business here for a number of years and was also engaged in other business affairs involving the McIntosh estate. He retired from business several years ago.

A member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, Mr. McIntosh was devout and faithful to its work. Quiet and retiring in manner, he was a man of fine character and good works. Charitable in nature, he preferred his generosity wear an anonymous cloak but friends knew of his many fine contributions towards church and civic endeavors. His gentle, friendly manner made him popular with many friends here.

Mr. McIntosh is survived by his widow, the former Miss Lila Thompson, a sister and a brother, Mrs. B. Logan Vaughan of Cartersville and R.C. McIntosh of Quitman.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence with Rev. T.J. White and Rev. F.H. McElroy conducting and interment following in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. Maxwell-Eason Company had charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were W.J. Hewett, Donald Taylor, Audie Lowe, D.L. Smith, Garrett Cobb, J.W. Rieley, Deacons of the Presbyterian Church. Honorary pallbearers were H.W. Stubbs, Denmark Groover, Spencer Bennet, Lawton Lee, Dr. L.M. Shealey, Warde Chambers, W.W. Williams, John Kimbrough, Paul Tanner, A.E. Williams, Dr. J.C. McGoogan, J.C. Baker, and W.M. English.
