Founder of "Toys for Tots," Awarded Legion of Merit, Academy Award-winning Motion Picture Screenwriter and Producer, Cris Award winner, Freedoms Foundation Award winner. He was the director of public relations for Warner Brothers Studios. He and co-founder USMC LtCol John Hampton, along with their USMC reserve unit, collected 5,000 toys in 1947 and distributed them to the less fortunate children of Los Angeles, California. His wife created the first Toys for Tots toy, a handmade rag doll. His documentary film "The Marine Corps: A Force in Readiness" was awarded an Academy Award. "The John Glenn Story" was nominated for an Academy Award. Both "A Free People", and "This is U.S. EUCOM" were awarded Chris Awards. "The Story of Old Glory" won a Freedoms Foundation Award. Other films were Seapower, The Land We Love, Freedom and You, The FBI, Scenes to Remember, Hollywood Star Spangled Revue, Red Nightmare and One Giant Leap. He worked many years as USMCR Public Affairs Officer in Santa Monica, California. He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Television Academy of Arts and Sciences, Screen Publicists, Writers Guild of America/West and ASCAP.
