James Patterson Martin was the longest surviving Civil War Veteran in Iowa. The last veteran standing in the US was Albert Woolston, who died in 1956.

John Cobin Martin, was the brother of James Patterson Martin. Both joined Company H, 1st Heavy Artillery together. They both served at Fort Lyons, Washington DC and were mustered out together. I am contacting you to correct/update the information for James Patterson Martin.
