Mr. Campbell was the son Luther and Cornie McGehee Campbell.
He was a retired manager for Buffalo Services. He was a member of Felder's United Methodist Church and a former member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. He was deeply involved in church activities until his health began to fail. He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict and was the first WWII serviceman in Pike County to be called back to service to serve in Korea. He was a Gideon and a member of Liberty Lodge No. 37 F. & A.M. Mr. Campbell's family said he was a wonderful, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burnette "Bruno" Campbell and Sam Campbell; one sister, Elaine Dykes; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Whittington Campbell.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Louise Bowlin Campbell of McComb; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronnie Scott Campbell of Tylertown and Lt. Col. Charles B. "Chuck" Campbell and Candy of Hattiesburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Don Honea of Magnolia; two sisters, Betty Jones of McComb and Irma Haggard of Denver; six grandchildren and their spouses, Scott Campbell and Kristy Campbell, Jamie and Dana Fortinberry, Rhonda and Gaylon Mir, Kim and David Shumaker, Erika Nunnery and Lee Honea; 12 great-grandchildren, Michael, Kelly and Rebecca Campbell, Leslie and Laura Smith, Andrew and Mackenzie Mir, Renee' Fortinberry, Logan and Brantley Nunnery and Issac and Katelynn Shumaker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Campbell, Jamie Fortinberry, Lee Honea, Gaylon Mir, Don Honea and David Shumaker.
